The word in the New Testament:
- Luke 21:5-6
- Revelation 21:2, 19
- Matthew 12:43-45
- Luke 11:24-26
- Matthew 23:29-30
- Matthew 25:6-8
- 1 Timothy 2:8-10
- 1 Peter 3:3-6
- Titus 2:9-10
Putting It All Together:
- Something can be decorated very beautifully in its appearance (Lk. 21:5).
- But that outward beauty can be empty or even hypocritical (Matt. 21:44; Lk. 11:15; Matt. 25:7; 23:9).
- The church’s adornment, beauty, is the inward adornment of its people (Rev. 21:2, 19; 1 Pet. 3:5; 1 Tim. 2:9).
- When we, the church, live with that kind of adornment, we beautifully decorate the doctrine of Christ for others (Titus 2:10).
